Summit Visiting Patrons
Incoming from another institution
Any current student, staff, or faculty (and some emeritus) from another Orbis Cascade Alliance member institution may be adopted as a Summit Visiting Patron (SVP) at Hamersly Library. SVPs may borrow directly from our general circulating collections and may place Summit requests to be picked up at our Checkout Desk. SVPs are also welcome to use Hamersly Library during evenings and weekends.
An SVP is responsible to Western Oregon University for any charges applicable to this borrowing activity, such as replacement for loss or damage. In other words, such charges are not sent to the home institution.
To start, register here and bring your home university ID card to the Checkout Desk at Hamersly Library. We’ll create a preliminary local account for you after confirming your status through your home library account. You will not have borrowing privileges until WOU assigns a V-number. We’ll occasionally need to reconfirm your current status at your home institution. Once you are no longer an SVP, your account at Hamersly Library will revert to a Community Patron with Borrowing Privileges, just without the Summit privileges.
Outgoing from WOU
Any current WOU student, faculty including emeritus, or staff may become a Summit Visiting Patron at any of our partner libraries. This service allows the WOU patron to borrow from general circulating collections and to place and receive Summit requests through that library.
To start, visit the circulation desk of that library and ask to be adopted as a Summit Visiting Patron. You will need to present your WOU ID and be able to log into My Library to verify eligibility. Please note that some libraries may also require a second form of photo ID, such as a driver license.
