Support & Resources
Canvas Support
Canvas offers support to all students, faculty, and staff! This support is available 24/7 and 365 days a year, making it the best way to access prompt support should you encounter any challenges using Canvas.
Support is available by phone, live chat, or email.
- Phone: 866-901-5128
- Live-chat: You must be logged in to Canvas to access live chat. Select the “help icon” from the left-side menu and choose the option “Chat with Canvas support”.
- Email: You can reach Canvas support at support@instructure.com.
Canvas Guides
Canvas has a rich library of guides, videos, and other resources that will walk you through its different processes and features. Each guide has a detailed table of contents to help you find the content you need quickly. These guides provide detailed instructions and are maintained by Instructure, Canvas’ vendor, meaning they are always the most up-to-date resources.
Frequent Requests
Academic Innovation has developed forms or instructions for many common requests we receive.
- Create a Canvas development shell
- Extend Canvas Course Access for Students with Incompletes
- Add a User to Course Site (e.g. teaching assistants, observers)
- Moving Moodle Content to Canvas
Some of the above processes require filling out a Google form. Using these forms allows us to track your request and ensure it’s completed promptly. If we have questions about your request, someone from our team will reach out. Please feel free to contact askAI@wou.edu to follow up on a request or ask any questions you may have.
Academic Technology Support
VoiceThread
WOU users have access to premium support. Contact support@voicethread.com for assistance. Many questions may also be answered using the guides available on the VoiceThread Support page.
Zoom
University Computing Solutions provides support for Zoom at WOU. You may also find answers to many questions and helpful guides through the Zoom Help Center.
Screencast-O-Matic
Support is available through the Screencast-O-Matic Help Center where you will be able to find answers to common questions or submit a help ticket. There are also many useful guides and tutorials available through the Screencast-O-Matic Training page.
Moodle Archives
Answers to many questions can be found on our Moodle Archives information page. You can also shoot us an email at askAI@wou.edu.
Other Technology
AI staff offer limited support for troubleshooting other academic technology tools that integrate with the learning management system. Reach out to us at askAI@wou.edu. Our support hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4 pm.

Academic Innovation host many kinds of programs and workshops. Our two main workshop series are Canvas training and Teaching Deep Dives. Workshops require advance registration.
