Homelessness is a significant form of social marginalization which should be a pressing concern for many including policymakers, gerontologists, housing advocates and public health professionals. The intention of this literature review is to examine current research on homelessness among older adults, the primary challenges for this population, and the intersections of other identities (e.g., LGBTQ+, people of color) with being older and unhoused. Implications will be explored such as how systems of support might better support these disenfranchised populations. Overall, this paper aims to better understand how older adults experiencing homelessness may be perceived and stigmatized because of their unique identities.
